Welcome!

Welcome to the official website for the Cinque Ports Angling society. We hope you’ll find everything you need, but feel free to get in touch with the club if you have any queries.

The club

Cinque Ports Angling Society was founded in the 1920s. Originally a sea and course fishing club, it is now totally course fishing. We have the fishing rights to 11 miles of the Royal Military Canal and we have also recently acquired Stanford Lake situated just off Stone Street in North Stanford. We have regular matches throughout the year on a variety of waters with trophies on offer at the end of the season.

The Royal Military Canal

Stretching just over 28 miles, CPAS have fishing rights to just under half of the canal. Our area covers all of Hythe and West Hythe (More details can be found here). The RMC was originally built between 1804 and 1809 in a bid to defend against the Napoleon invasion, however, it is now enjoyed by anglers, walkers and cyclists alike. There is a wide range of fish stocked in the canal including carp, tench, perch and pike with record weights of up to 33lbs.

Stanford Lake
